Great American Steamboat Company Plans Mid-August Debut
The newly formed Great American Steamboat Company plans to open for business in
mid-August from its Memphis headquarters, with its first cruise set for next April on the
436-passenger American Queen paddle wheeler. Great American Steamboat President
Christopher Kyte said the new company will offer three- to 10-night river voyages through
America’s heartland, with embarkation points in New Orleans, Memphis, St. Louis,
Minneapolis/St. Paul, Cincinnati and Pittsburgh.
The price of a three-night cruise will start at under $1,000. A lot of the itineraries can
be done with little or no flying. The company also is working on deals with Hertz for
one-way drop-off rentals and with Amtrak for trains to embarkation ports. Seventy percent
of the American population lives within an eight-hour drive of one of the ports.
The Great American Steamboat would once again visit the small Midwest and Southern towns that welcomed Delta Queen’s vessels.

Joanna, OMG, the vacation that you booked for me and Richard was INCREDIBLE. Now I
know how it feels to be treated like a celebrity. The resort treated us like we were the most
important people on the property This is my first trip that I have used a travel agent and I
didn't realize how much WORK I had been doing in the past. This was effortless.
The resort you suggested was superb 5+ stars. I have never had service like this.
From the wet towel on arrival from the bellman, to the presentation of champagne when
we stepped into the beautiful carved wooden doors of the resort, to the effortless check-in
process and then we were escorted to a beautiful air conditioned bar (which had a view
of the beach and the pools) to have a drink while our bellman dropped off our bags at the
room and brought us back the key.
The room was high end - the tiles, the carved and polished wood, the decorative arches,
the shower room (yes I said "room" the shower measured 8' x 5'), the beautiful bathtub,
the spacious balcony and the beautiful rose that was on our king size 4 poster bed. I
could go on and on about Excellence Riviera Cancun, but I want to save my fingers.
I do want to say that the food was superb at the restaurants, the bar service at the beach,
pools or if you wanted to specifically go to the bar, was incredible. I have spent more money
at other all inclusive and have never received this type of service. Even leaving the resort
(which was very hard to do) was effortless.
Also the service you used for the airport to hotel transfers were great (I believe they were
called Lomas Travel). We were treated so well and they answered all of our questions
with a smile. We also used them to book 2 excursions and we were delighted with our
experience. And the most important thing is that they were located at the resort, so they
were within walking distance for questions. We will definitely being going back again
and I am telling EVERYONE, about our wonderful vacation.

vacation a lot, so that is saying a lot.
